As directed by President Ramaphosa, Minister Tau travelled to Washington DC to
engage the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Jamieson
Greer and members of congress. Minister Tau held a cordial and constructive
meeting with the USTR on matters of mutual interest. The meeting was preceded by
intensive three-day discussions by senior officials.

The door is still open for Pretoria to convince US president to attend the historic G20 summit by winning his heart and mind.

The Government is therefore in continued engagement with the United States to secure a mutually-beneficial trade and investment deal.
