TIPS - Sectors Branch Seminar: Trends in the Real Economy, Imports, FDI and Exports

Venue: Zoom [ONLINE] REGISTER HERE TIPS will present information to the dtic on some of its bulletins and other recent research. The aim is to highlight changing economic trends over the past quarter.
The presentations will cover:
The Import and Export Trackers The Trackers provide an overview of the import and export trends over the past quarter. The Import Tracker looks at recent surges in imports. The Export Tracker looks at the growth and decline of exports over the quarter.
The Real Economy Bulletin The Real Economy Bulletin is a TIPS review of quarterly trends, developments, and data in the real economy, together with a comprehensive analysis of the main manufacturing industries. It covers data on GDP growth, employment, international trade, investment, and profitability.
The FDI Tracker The FDI Tracker examines foreign investment projects occurring quarterly as well as examining investment environment trends.
The ILS Study The Import Localisation and Supply Chain Disruption study comprises quarterly reports that identify goods from the list of imports in the Import Tracker, whether they have previously been manufactured locally or not, but which South Africa could viably manufacture. TIPS events bring together academics, policymakers, civil society organisations, workers, and practitioners to discuss important issues and share ideas on industrial policy.
