MAKE THE DIFFERENCE – GROWING WORK OPPORTUNITIES

As you may be aware, last year saw business partnering with the presidency in three areas, on the B4SA platform: corruption and crime, logistics and infrastructure,  and energy.  Now  we have taken on a business government initiative focusing on employment and work opportunities,  as an area that the private sector could offer further support in.

So does it matter, that business gets involved? Quite simply yes - both in the space of social cohesion and supporting medium term growth in the domestic economy.  Hiring and creating work experiences for excluded youth, skilling to unlock jobs, and importantly supporting SMME’s and creating self-employment opportunities in the informal economy, are all part of this initiative.

Our support of both the YES Programme, as well as the Harambee SA Youth Platform can make the difference, whilst benefitting business, in terms of the BBBEE scorecard.

Skills that do unlock jobs include digital skills, technical skills, work readiness and other critical skills.

The importance of scaling self-employment through SMME’s and the informal sector remains critical, and as successful corporates, we can really make a difference, and grow the real wins in South Africa!
