Intertek Government and trade services Sub-Saharan Africa Gives Back to the Community

As part of its ongoing commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where it operates, the Intertek Government and Trade Services (GTS) Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) team visited the New Life Home Trust Children's Home in Kilimani, Nairobi, Kenya, on 17 June 2026.

Ahead of the visit, the Home Manager shared an overview of the organisation's work and highlighted several essential items required to support its daily operations. From detergents and nappies, to wheelbarrows and other everyday necessities, the requested items were purchased in advance and presented to the home during the visit.

Established in 1994, New Life Home Trust rescues, cares for and nurtures abandoned and vulnerable children across Kenya. What began as a single children's home in Nairobi has grown into a respected organisation with additional homes in Nakuru, Kisumu and Nyeri. The organisation provides holistic care for infants and young children before placing them into permanent families through foster care, family reintegration or adoption. Since its founding, it has cared for more than 2,600 children, with the majority successfully placed into loving families.

During the visit, the GTS SSA team was given a guided tour of the home's facilities, providing valuable insight into its daily operations and the dedicated care provided by its staff and caregivers. The tour included the neonatal care unit, infant care areas, play and learning spaces, kitchens, laundry facilities and vegetable gardens.

The team then spent the afternoon with the children, playing football, enjoying horseback rides, spending time on the swings and slides with the older children, and assisting caregivers with feeding, comforting and caring for the younger babies. These shared moments created meaningful connections and made the visit a memorable experience for everyone involved.

While the team arrived ready to make a positive contribution, the experience proved equally rewarding. Witnessing the resilience of the children and the unwavering dedication of the staff and caregivers served as a powerful reminder of the impact that kindness and compassion can have, leaving a lasting impression on the team.

The visit concluded with a donation from Intertek, presented by Jérémy Gaspard , Vice President, GTS, to support the ongoing work of New Life Home Trust. The GTS SSA team also extends its sincere appreciation to the staff and caregivers for their warm welcome and for the life-changing work they continue to do every day.

This initiative reflects the GTS Team's commitment to supporting the communities it serves. Through initiatives such as this, the team continues to bring Intertek's values to life by making a meaningful and lasting difference beyond business.
